From Debt Stress to Travel Success: A Young Professional's Financial Turnaround

It was 2017, and I was a new college graduate with my first job out of college, earning $70k annually. At 23, I was seeing more money than I had ever seen in my life, yet, mysteriously, I had less money in the bank than I did in college. 

Realizing I needed help, I reached out to Nick. His frequent travels showcased on social media made me think, "Clearly, he knows something I don't." 

We sat down for an hour or two, took a thorough look at my income, expenses, and spending habits. He helped me strategize how to pay my bills and reframed the way I used credit cards.

The simplest and most effective strategy was to consolidate all of my bills onto my credit card and pay off the credit card on the first of every month. This strategy almost instantly alleviated the stress of ensuring my bills were paid on time. 

I entered the meeting feeling defeated but left invigorated, ready to take charge of my personal finances. Nick also provided me with a rough 6-8 week game plan to track my spending and set investment goals to start after the 8 weeks. 

A year later, I had accumulated nearly 500k in travel points, allowing me to take my girlfriend to Japan, my mom to San Diego, and my sister to Los Angeles. What I learned from Nick has been fundamental in changing how I manage my money.
